Hi Friends! How is your summer going? We are about half way into ours, and so far, we’ve had a lot of fun spending time with friends and enjoying the beautiful San Diego weather. It’s been pretty warm this year, so we’ve been going to the beach and the pool a lot! Today I want to share with you some cute and casual summer outfits to help keep you comfortable and cool when the weather heats up.
Below are summer outfit ideas I’ve put together from my most recent purchases from Target and Old Navy. Everything is super affordable, and comes in a variety of colors so you can mix and match to your heart’s content. Buy multiples and you are basically left with a mini summer capsule wardrobe! Easy, breezy and perfect for summer!

Short sleeve T-shirt Dress
T-shirt dress • Nude sandals • Earrings (similar)
From the beginning, I said that I would wear more dresses this summer, and so far, I’ve been sticking to it! A dress is so great because it’s one item and you have a whole outfit. No mixing and matching different tops and bottoms. All you have to do is accessorize and you’re done! It’s the best.
The first time I tried on this dress, I ordered a medium, and I didn’t like the way it fit…it was too slouchy and wasn’t flattering. But then, I tried it on in small and it fit so much better. Less baggy, more fitted (but still very relaxed) and the length was better too. I usually wear medium in most things from Target, but sometimes you need to try another size if the fit isn’t right the first time.
This dress is super comfortable, and I love the green color, but there are a lot of pretty colors to choose from.
Tank Dress
Tank dress • Sandals • Earrings (similar, similar)
Such a fun and easy dress to throw on when it’s hot out and you want to look cute but still be cool and comfortable. And it also makes for a great beach/pool cover up!
Plus, how cute are these Tory Burch knock-off sandals? Very reasonably priced and they come in a variety of colors.
Here it is in a pretty coral orange. With all the color options, you can really stock up and have fun. Plus, they’re so affordable, it’s hard not to get more than one! (I’m also a poet…did you catch that?) ????
Graphic Tees
Rolling Stones Graphic Tee • Shorts • Earrings • Shoes (similar, similar)
I also ordered a bunch of fun graphic tees because they are cute, comfortable, versatile and the perfect way to add a little sass to an outfit. ???? This tee comes in a variety of colors as well. I paired it with these distressed shorts from Old Navy for a fun casual weekend look.
Plus the earrings! If you don’t know about Nickel & Suede, they are super cute leather earrings that are very comfortable and lightweight. My girlfriends and I are obsessed with these. They are a little spendy though, so I would invest in a neutral pair to start with and then keep your eyes open for sales and their earring-of-the-month deals. (Amazon and Etsy have good dupes as well.)
Love me some Aerosmith! ❤
And of course, I want my MTV!
Tank + Shorts
Basic, classic summer staples. I have this tank in multiple colors because it’s comfortable, has a flattering neckline, it’s great for layering, and they only cost $5! I mean, duh! The shorts are from Old Navy, and they run very large. I’m wearing a size 4 here (I’m normally a size 6) and I could’ve even gone down to a size 2, but I decided to keep them because they are comfortable and I could use a pair of shorts with a more relaxed fit.
These flip flops from Target have changed a bit over the years, but they still remain a staple in my wardrobe. Especially here in San Diego, we wear them almost year round, so it’s important to have a pair (or 2 or 3) that look nice with everything!
Floral Swimsuit
This swimsuit from Old Navy is so cute and I got it for a steal! At first, I wasn’t going to keep it because I thought the floral pattern was a bit much. But then I realized I could mix and match the pieces with other swimsuits I have; it tones down the pattern a bit, and it gives you 3 different looks in one! Plus, now it’s kinda growing on me, so I may just wear both pieces together after all.
