Can you believe January is already gone?? Valentine’s day is just around the corner, so I thought I’d help you start planning early with some adorable DIY valentine ideas for kids. Get your creative juices flowing with these sweet and easy-to-make diy valentines. Most of the supplies needed are ones you can easily pick up at your local big box store, party store or Amazon. And about half of these are non-candy ideas for those of you looking to cut back on all the sugar. Check them out!
Love Bug Valentines
These are fun because it makes for a fun activity with the kiddos but the whole process is pretty easy to do. And who doesn’t love a sweet M&M butterfly with googly eyes?
Glow Stick Valentines
Glowsticks are a cool, inexpensive way to add some extra fun to your valentines.
Lollipop Butterflies
So sweet! Another one the kids can be creative and have fun decorating together.
Gummy Bear Valentines
Gummy bears are the perfect blend of cute and sweet without being too sugary, and these packs come in just the right size.
Squishy Valentine
Ok, I don’t know about your kids, but mine love them some squishies! They are just so darn cute and sweet and squishable! These can be a little pricier depending on where you buy them, but Amazon usually has a pretty good selection at reasonable prices.
Crazy Straw valentines
So fun! Inexpensive, easy to assemble and adorable! Done and done.
Paratrooper valentines
Too cool for school! As a mom of two boys (who live in a house with stairs and vaulted ceilings), these little paratroopers definitely earn their stripes for fun.
Funny Mustache Valentines
Omigosh, I really want to make these. They seem to be a little more labor-intensive than some of the others because of all the cutting, but how fun and silly and adorable are these? I can see these being a big hit!
Amazing Valentine
Once upon a time, I actually diy-ed a similar version of this valentine for my son’s preschool class, but these printables are a bit more professional looking than the ones I made, haha. Super cute and a good option for the littles.
Bubble Valentine
Bubbles! Kids LOVE bubbles. The end.
Hoppy Valentine’s Day
Super cute and easy to assemble. Plus, you can typically get more than enough frogs for about $5, making it really affordable too!
Slappy Valentine’s Day
Slap! These still-popular accessories are fun to wear and the cute printable tags make it easy to hand out to friends for a valentines exchange.
Because February is usually a pretty busy month with my birthday and my son Joshua’s birthday within the first two weeks, I usually don’t have the time to put together really cute and crafty valentines, but these are really inspiring me to maybe give diy valentines a try this year….we’ll see!
But if you are not a crafty mama–or don’t have time to be–don’t stress it! Usually, my go-to is buying the prepackaged Valentines from Target. Because honestly, kids love it all. Candy, cards, stickers, whatever….the experience of exchanging valentines with their friends is the most important thing.
And also, by the way, did you know these existed?? Some of the kits are definitely on the spendy side, but others are pretty reasonable! One stop-valentine-shop delivered to your door? Yes please! ????????
What are you planning to do this year? Make or buy? Let me know if you have any good ideas to share!
With love,
Liz
